Subject: Opposition to a Military Parade for President Trump's Birthday
Dear Senator,
I am writing to express my strong opposition to the proposed military parade in Washington, D.C. on June 14, 2025, which coincides with Donald Trump's 79th birthday. As a constituent, I am concerned about the potential misuse of taxpayer dollars for this event.
The estimated cost of a similar parade in 2018 was around $90 million, with additional expenses for security, infrastructure protection, and potential repairs. I believe these funds could be better allocated to support veterans' programs, improve military readiness, or address pressing national needs.
I also share concerns about the optics of using a military parade to celebrate a personal birthday, which may be perceived as militaristic or nationalistic. Furthermore, the U.S. Army's 250th anniversary celebrations, scheduled for the same day, may be overshadowed by a parade focused on an individual's birthday.
President Dwight Eisenhower, a renowned military leader, was known for his cautious approach to military displays. I share his concerns regarding military parades. President Eisenhower, a decorated military leader, cautioned against the excessive display of military might, emphasizing the importance of focusing on national security and strategic preparedness. I believe that a large-scale military parade would be a wasteful and inappropriate use of our military resources.
I urge you to oppose any taxpayer-funded military parade for Donald Trump's birthday and instead support allocating resources to more pressing national priorities.
Sincerely,
Cyrus Vox
